What is your policy on age-restricted sales?

At Asda, we take our responsibilities as a retailer very seriously, and we work in line with the government-backed Challenge 25 Policy. To ensure we comply with laws regarding the sale of age-restricted products.

Voluntary age restricted policies on products such as medicine are also in place, ensuring we safeguard children and vulnerable adults to prevent misuse. 

If you look under the age of 25 when buying these, our colleagues will request proof of age to show you are over the required ag limit. The same applies to all online orders regardless of whether age-restricted products are involved because you need to be 18 years old or over to register for, and place, online orders.

What forms of ID do you accept?

We accept official photo-ID only that include a date of birth.  We do not accept photocopies of any photo ID documents or cards.

We accept:

  • UK and International passports
  • EU photo card driving license
  • Military ID card
  • National identity card
  • Proof of age card (Pass logo)

What products are age-restricted?

The products below have legal quantity restrictions as well as age restrictions. 

 

Product Quantity Restriction
Aspirin and products containing aspirin No more than two packs can be sold in a single transaction (also age restricted 16)
Paracetamol No more than two packs can be sold in a single transaction (also age restricted 16)
Ibuprofen No more than two packs can be sold in a single transaction (also age restricted 16)

 

Multiple transactions processed separately to bypass quantity restrictions are strictly not allowed
