What information is on my till receipt?

Our till receipts give you information about the products you've bought, details of when and where the transaction took place and the payment method you used. The information is useful if you need to return an item or for your records.

Because receipts have limited space, some product descriptions may be shortened or abbreviated. If you're unsure about an item on your receipt, please speak to a colleague in store.

You may notice letters against the price of each item - e.g. Item / Code / £2.50V. These indicate if an item is subject to VAT. Here's what the letters mean:

D = VAT not payable (e.g. groceries, fresh food, children's clothes)

V = VAT payable (e.g. confectionery, snacks, beers, wines, spirits and general merchandise such as electrical items)

M = VAT payable (e.g. items sold from our kiosk/tobacco)

No indicator shown = VAT not payable (e.g. postage stamps, lottery).
