At Asda, we take our responsibilities as a retailer very seriously. Our stores work in line with the government-backed Challenge 25 Policy. To ensure we comply with laws regarding the sale of age-restricted items, if you look under the age of 25 when buying restricted items, our colleagues will request proof of age to show you are over 18. The same applies to all online orders regardless of whether age-restricted items are involved because you need to be 18 or over to register for, and place, online orders.
Age-restricted products include; alcohol, cigarettes and cigarette paraphernalia, lottery tickets, scratch cards, solvents, knives, some DVDs, games and CDs, fireworks and some energy drinks.
The sale of high caffeine energy drinks to anyone under the age of 16 is banned in all Asda stores and petrol stations. This includes all high caffeine drinks containing more than 150mg of caffeine per litre. If you look under 16 our colleagues may ask you to provide some photo ID to prove you're over 16.
Grocery Home Shopping orders
If there is no-one over the age of 18 at the delivery address or collection point, the colleague will reject the order and you will have to rebook your order. For information on how to rebook your order please visit our Cancelled order FAQ. You can also view our terms and conditions of sale.
George delivery and in-store collection orders
In the case of home deliveries, if there is no one over the age of 18 at the delivery address the colleague will not be able to leave your parcel and will return at another time/date.
If you are collecting your order from a George store, our colleagues may ask to see proof of age, just like we would at our checkouts. If you are unable to provide proof of age, you will not be able to collect the parcel and we will cancel and refund the order. Please see our full terms and conditions for more information.
